Office Health Hazards
Yes, really, there are hazards in the office. But they aren’t what you would expect them to be. They are hiding in plain sight and can have lasting devastating effects.
Office Health Hazards to look out for:
Keyboard
Yup, that’s right, the things you are resting your hands on right now is a major hazard in the office. Improper and prolonged keyboard use can result in Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. What is Carpal Tunnel? The Carpal Tunnel is a narrow passageway on the palm side of your wrist made up of nerves and ligaments. The median nerve that runs through this is the culprit, when compressed or pinches it causes severe paint in the wrist.
Chair
Bad posture resulting from the wrong chair can lead to lower back pain. We sit all day in our offices and it puts a major strain on your back. It’s not always slouching, sitting up curving your back is just as bad. Maintain a good posture to keep your back strain free.
Screen
Your eyes are arguably the most important thing you have. But staring at a computer screen all day can lead to eye strain. To prevent this, increase your font size and frequently rest your eyes by looking away from the screen. Take a break and enjoy our fully stocked break room to give your eyes a rest!
Bacteria
Believe it or not, but your desk is 400 times more dirty than a toilet. You do this by eating at your desk, never cleaning it, sneezing etc. But as well, leaving crumbs and a mess behind attracts rodents and rodent bacteria. Keep your desks clean! Very important as we return to normal. Cold and flu season is here as well!
