So you’ve finally hit it, the proverbial Quarter Life Crisis. The good news is that you are not alone, nearly 80% of people in their mid-twenties to early thirties have admitted to going through a Quarter Life Crisis. So now that you’ve owned up to it, what’s next? How are you supposed to get through this relatively unscathed? This article will go through some reasons why people experience this “crisis” and some tips on how to deal with it.

The Quarter Life Crisis

Why Do You Feel Like This?

There are many possible reasons why someone is feeling a sort of anxiety around their personal or professional life during their mid-twenties and early thirties. People that fall into this age range are often recent graduates or eager professionals looking for their first real-world experiences. A high percentage of people have said that they feel like their career choice is the major cause of concern. Finding a job you love and work you have a passion for is key to being a happier person, both at home and in your professional life.

What Can You Do?

Attack your problems. So you haven’t found your dream job yet? Keep looking because it’s out there. If it’s taking a bit longer than you thought, just stay busy and keep yourself motivated. Some things you can do to keep your mind at ease and reduce anxiety include:

Hobbies

Whether it’s sports, art, music or anything else that interests you, do it. Things that you do simply because you love doing them can put you at ease without you even realizing it.

Travel

It’s been said that your twenties are the most exciting times of your life. You likely aren’t tied down to anything just yet, whether it be relationships, a career or schooling. Getting out of town for even a week or two can do wonders for you emotionally and can give you some time to think about what you want in life.

Explore

If you don’t have the money to go on a trip, you can always find solace right where you are. Go out and explore your own city, even if it’s just a new bar that just opened up downtown or a concert of a band you’ve never heard of. These kinds of “staycations” can introduce you to new people and memorable experiences without having to leave the country.

You may end up looking at what other similar individuals are doing in their lives…Don’t. Everyone has a different path, and no one goes through the exact same experiences and processes as someone else.
